When someone drops off their bike to be worked on, but neglects to leave you the key. Yeah, there are likely less elegant ways around this, but 3D printing tools is fun!!

The ignition switch was replaced as part of the work, so the tumbler will be popped in when the owner arrives - in the mean time, it needs a test ride.

So the adapter works good, but it auto-ejects when the engine is started -lol. So stick it in your pocket and use it when it is time to shut the bike off…. hmmmm…

Not happy with that, I added a groove for an o-ring, so now it friction fits in the ignition switch - perfect!!

I like the simplicity ! Will the plastic key material last for ever or degrad over time ? ….. you have very up to date skills …. Guessing you a bit youthful compared to most here , or highly intelligent , buttons for me are very difficult as is focusing in these days …..

Lol - depends on your idea of youthful. Mid-50’s is youthful to some.

I work in a high technology industry, and am addicted to creating/making things. I have been using CAD since the late 80’s, and this is a key enabler to 3D printing to me.

I printed it in PETG (polyethylene), which is quite strong and durable.
