ign warning light on?

any ideas?, after working on my 850mk3, none really electrical, now the ignition warning light stays on, if I turn the headlight on it goes out hi or low beam, does show 13+v when running with lights off and just under 13 with light on, I think its charging ok so it's rideable but need to figure this out . any help is appreciated.

The warning light not going out until the headlamp was switched on would be a standard characteristic of the Canadian assimilator.

My bad, found that I had wired the assimilator wrong, it still had the old one ( still mounted in its's original place) next to the new one and I had put the wrong wires to it, once removed saw that it was a canadian version 6392 , I may have shorted out the unit as now the warning light stays on dimly all the time, charging seems to work so I think I can ride it until I get a new one. Is there a way to test the assimilator.
