How many Commandos here?

About 1 1/2 here.

A '72 being rebuilt and enough parts to start another one.

72 seems to be a very popular year, or am I just imagining it?

I sure liked his un-restored drop dead clever hidden mono-shock C'do I saw snapped up at last Barber Vintage Days auction last year. Got a bit carried away on it showing how to start and take off with a wheelie through the warehouse. Also was tempted myself to steal his rebellious springer forked Triumph chopper that upset as many as its pleased with un-proper configuration. I've only seen Paul ride his clapped out racer a few miles at a time, that he cheated and trailered along with other bikes. He didn't get to ride very far at the Texas Mile event running around here and there managing the voluntary crew that ran the ticket booth and the parking and the time slip handling and a few other vital functions that made the event flow smoothly.
Everyone else and their sister was on minibikes and ATV's and golf carts, but not Paul he'd kick off that low mileage racer and leave a nice sound track where ever he went. He is a Texas flat lander though so and hope he don't have to abandon shop for the range fires raging this summer still.

Here is my lineup:
1- 1975 MK3 Roadster, currently 880cc
1-1975 MK3 Roadster engine apart due to soft cam
1-1971 750 Roadster

Instead of bragging about on how many Commandos you ever laid your hands on , you could tell us wich one you rode for more than 10 miles ?.
I am pretty shure you haven't done a 1000 miles on Commandos in your entire life .
I can think of many words to describe what you are doing , but "restore" isn't one of them .

Maybe I could start an equally silly thread about how many members rode one of their Commandos over a 1000 km from home and back during the last year ( if ever ) , on its own wheels , that is .. ? .
But don't worry , I won't .
I doubt il will fill 5 pages ..

Now that's what I call a STRONG COMEBACK at the forum Ludwig

1968 Fastback

1952 (ish) T100 Triton

1969 T150 Trident

1958 Norton Dominator cafe racer

1971 Yamaha TD3 Racer

Too small a garage, not enough tinkering time and of course not enough money!!

Jamie

If this thread accomplished nothing else, it got a couple of lurkers to post for the first time.

Personal attacks are very unbecoming.

When I ride my bicycle, I think of my Norton, especially going up the hills, does that count :?:

Current and till I die - 1971 Roadster - Fireflake Bronze

Sold - 1972 Roadster Combat

Haven't done long trips on it yet, possibly from Adelaide to Phillip Island at some point. I just ain't got the time no more, house, work, family. But I don't mind, the rides I do get here in the Adelaide hills are absolute perfection. My previous Commando did some good ones though.

Forgot to add I also have a 2011 Triumph Sprint GT ( great bike ), but the Norton still gets rode the most buy a long shot.

Must be nice to have unlimited time and money to do nothing but ride Commandos!

Sadly, I'll never get to enjoy that lifestyle here in the real world.

...but it beats the heck out of most other choices.

a 73 750 roadster (221###) always spending my money

You're lucky to live in such a beautiful place to ride.
Otago Peninsula or over the Mt Cargyl road to Blue Skin bay!

Welcome back Ludwig, missed your posts.
That would be me, a dozen times. 10,000mi in the last couple years.
Long distance riding isn't for everybody. That doesn't mean they're not crazy about their bikes though. Gotta cut people slack. I'm working on it. I'm going to be 60 next month. I've been working on that avuncular Wilford Brimley thing. It's not taking for $hit.

How many Commandos here?

Hmmmm...gotta be careful, GP, not to confuse your perception of "personal attacks" with the cold hard truth. Personal attacks are just that....someone's opinion. The truth, on the other hand, can be a bitter pill to swallow.
