Hi,

I'm a newbie and glad to find this Forum - great info! I have a '71 Roadster that I got in trade and in boxes. It was a roller with a disassembled engine, and in very rough shape all over. It has been a long term project, but I'm finally closing in on start-up.

I'll be asking for help and hopefully contributing to this forum.

Welcome!

I think you'll find the Commando is a surprisingly easy bike to put together, in terms of parts availability.

I assembled mine from a collection of pieces, being a complete bike that six of the previous owners had dissembled into 12 boxes.

Everything I needed was readily available. Since it was a complete bike, it only took $6K in replacement parts (including sending out the speedo for a replacement glass and new exhaust threads in the head).

Good luck, and any questions or problems you run into can be answered by the many knowledgeable people here.

Hi,

Be sure to post some pix as Grandpaul has proved that restoration threads are the most popular.

Isn't that mandatory for new posters? :)

We all like photos!
