Has anyone heard of a Commando speedo drive gearbox apparently made by a company possibly called Harisons (Rebullet?)
As there is one shown on eBay at the moment that supposedly fits rear disc Commandos (850 MkIII) Triumph? (T160?) BSA?.

Are they:

Good?

Or cheap/nasty/unreliable?

Are they available to buy anywhere? Or are they pattern parts that are no longer made?

I've never heard of them L.A.B. It doesn't say R.E. Bullet, does it ? That might indicate Indian origin !

Harrison Billet make those nice brake calipers but I'm sure it's nothing to do with them.

Thanks 79x100 I will check that.

Yes could be *R E Bullet*.
That could be useful to know if the Enfield speedo drive fits a rear disc Commando and Triumphs etc.!

Anyone heard if that is possible?

After seaching through some images there does appear to be a similar drive gearbox fitted on the Enfield (India) right hand side of the front wheel.

Just check that the drive gearbox has the same revolutions per mile as your speedometer. The Commando (for what reason I never discovered) changed the display instrument from the usual Norton standard of 1600 revs/mile to 1000 revs/mile. Unfortunately, the hub drive supplier didn't get the word for a while. Most of the time we were testing the prototypes, the speedometer read 1.6x actual speed.

If I remeber correctly, there's a small-typeface part number at the 6-o'clock position on the speedometer and the last four digits are the revs per mile.

Thanks Frank. I don't know if this unit has the correct 15:12 drive ratio or not (or if the direction of rotation is correct or not?), but I shall endeavour to check.

Yes I have that info (see my instrument ID thread) http://accessnorton.com/norton_commando1440.html
