Can anyone post a picture of the handlebar light switch showing the actual soldered wire locations. Some one has rewired this switch
incorrectly and I want to make sure it is correct. I need to see both sides to make sure I have the correct light switch. The wire colors are blue, white, blue with red stripe, blue with white stripe and purple with black stripe. This is on a 1971 Norton.
Thanks for your help.

Photos of Triumph clusters but the Norton Edit: lighting ("RH") switch should be the same (the "LH" switch in the photo might not be).

First of all thank you for posting your pictures. It looks like your L.H. switch is like my L.H. switch which is the 3 position turn signal
switch. However my R.H. switch mechanism, that the wires are soldered to, is not like your R.H. switch mechanism. My R.H. switch
mechanism is like your L.H. mechanism. It looks like I have two L.H. switch mechanisms. My R.H. switch is not wired right either because
of the incorrect mechanism. Looks like I'll have to find a R.H. 2 position light switch.

They aren't actually my pictures (or switches) just images I found on Google. :)

Here's another I just found in the accessnorton 'archive':

If you end up building a switch from odd parts, the headlamp and direction indicator/blinker operating levers are different:

I found an old R.H. switch mechanism that will work. I soldered the wires on for the R.H. switch and everything seems to work
great. I tested the switch on the beach with a meter. I still need to solder on the 5 bullet connectors. I'll have to look
on ebay I guess to find the connectors. Yes the plastic light and turn signal levers are different.
Thank you again for taking the time to post these pictures. I could not have redone the switches without them.
I may have some more questions about installing the new wiring harness.

I found this thread while looking at two right hand clusters for a Norton Commando.
I need a pair for a restoration of a 1971 Norton Commando SS with wrong handlebar switches.
I planned to rewire one of them into a left hand cluster with a 3 position flip switch for the indicators.
Is there a difference between the inner switch contacts?
I found one "bridge" on the pic above (top right) which is not present in the left hand switch.
Are the contacts for the flip switch the same?
Thanks for any help

As Lab said the operating levers are different , and inner contacts also........I had tried to make up one with left and right "wrecks" and it's bloody difficult .....happy X-Mas.
