Sorry no pictures but had a great ride today in the rain here in the UK. Been waiting for some good heavy showers for a while so got kitted up today for my first tester before going the Isle of Man for the Manx GP in three weeks. Only hiccup was a wet crotch as my trusty Hein Gericke ten year old, no expensed spared one piecer let some water in; I probably didn't do it up properly...

Also wanted to check whether water had got into belt drive primary as I don't have those two thin steel plates/felt washer to seal the g/box shaft thro' the inner primary cover. None entered; as Is suspected it must centrifuge off the sprocket.

Have cleaned/washed bike off now ready for the blazing UK sunshine tomorrow morning on the ride to work.

That's so cool for me to read as I like to ride in rain and after dark, as long as not getting chilled and can see w/o long streams of close by traffic. I never test traction in the wet if planning to arrive somewhere.

What happens to me in rain is water hits jacket to flow down into seat bucket or up my sleeves. In a pinch when going to work 20 mile, not wanting soaked jeans I put on a garage bag on lower trunk and let the greased leather jacket shed water off top of me, for just damp knee and boots that dry out moving around in them. Avoiding the sting of drops is another issue with fogging to deal with. A layer of soap or wax polish works for a few hours a go. I have rain suit but never used it. On summer showers I just get soaked then dry off after through it, often standing on pegs at hi way speed.

Youse guys are tough, I never ride in the rain anymore. Last time I did was on a BSA down the PCH from Monterey to Santa Barbara and no front fender, leaning all the way just so I could see. You can do that when you're 20. Wet all the way to San Louis Obispo where I pulled into a laundromat and dried out. Nice ride though, even if my arms went to sleep all the way up to my elbows on that single 500 B33.

I chickened out today. Had our outing out last night to see Status Quo.
Either ride in the rain in England or hardly ever ride.

Rain. Chok ,the rain god. Nice drive on Crazy through rain this aft. Flying to Vancouver tomorrow for more rain , will visit Comox on Van. Island for more Norton wisdom in the rain.

Seeley920, racing in the rain is just asking for it, so my great respects to those that do. Even being careful in rain and wet I've had more than enough surprises only saved by nothing to lose actions, stabbing rear brake or nailing rear throttle, but also I've been lifted by a wet wind gust in mild lean turning 60 mph and set back down in next lane pretty as can be, to about wet my own pants more than the rain... If traffic had appeared then I'd of disappeared. What little I do know of running wet is either pussy foot it or get aggressive in spurts like I do on THE Gravel to cause any slips before the least traction phase of turn, to be in recovery back off state by then. Best night time rides I crave is being in deep woods off tarmac on paths so narrow the trees close in over head so path covered in leaves and branches being blown down and high lighted by lightening strikes, flashes me back to TV Lassie crisis.

OH yeah an early on - new to cycling event when first got my SV650 and had a ridding buddy on a '71, coming home in down pour he needed a gas stop so I led way to station below legal speed about 50 mph and when I saw the diagonal entry way and knowing about his bad drum brake being way worse wet, I did not slow as I usually did till about half way along the unpaved entry, to give him braking space w/o me being in the way, as I leaned into drive slightly on brake, realized I could either low side on the rocks into ditch or just sit upright, like a man and shoot off 4 ft tall culvert into soft muddy grass lined ditch with "imagined" ability I'd control impact to ride up the other side, bounced, ground gave out from under so slipped and Splatted but no real injury me or bike just pride... which has no place in riding life.
