I was looking closely to the black and golden scheme of the Roadster Norton published in the ad of 1971 and it seems to me the 'golden' striping and logo were more like yellowish colour, than the real gold we are used now..
any idea from those who have memory of this? ThanX!
You are talking about the '71 sales brochure. The photo is poor quality making the gold look yellow. I bought a new '72 black with gold pin stripe roadster and the stripe and lettering were definitely gold, not yellow. The '71 gas tanks were the same as '72...fiberglass.
I guess you all know that there is 'printed' gold and 'metallic' gold. Decals can have either, and you can get metallic gold paint too (or gold leaf). The printed gold colors are not as bright as the metallic gold. I've found some nice looking gold spray paint that has a metallic cast to it too. Probably the best is painted metallic that comes from the artist shop in a jar. I wish I could afford to have someone do it on my FF Blue decals.
