Having my 74MK@ tank and side covers repainted black with gold decals and 1/8 inch gold pinstripes. My painter can not find gold pinstripes that match the gold decals. They are either a little to light or a little to dark. I bought the decals from The Bonnevilleshop. Where do you guys get your pinstripes from? Thanks Hershey

Painted.

My tank painter had a go to guy for hand pinstriping. Turned out excellent and only added $50 to cost.
If your guy can't do hand pinstripe, another option is to pre-paint area around pinstripe your decal matched colour, use any pinstripe sticker tape as a mask, paint tank and remove stick tape revealing underlying color. Clear coat and done.

The tank and side covers are just primed ready to paint with base color and then clear coat over decals and pinstripe

My basket case N15CS had the two tanks painted/striped but no side cover, and they were signed 'Bartee '94'. I found him on Facebook (Designs in Lines). He matched up the side cover I got, stripes and all, looks great. He's out in Lake Elsinore CA.

It's probably tough to get a computer match to a small sample area, and that can be expensive too, but someone with a good eye can get very close.

Yes but then you will end up with a faded job in short order. They didnt clear coat back then and today, clear looks like the tank was just dipped in a tub of varnish. It doesn't look original BUT it sure does hold up and protect the pins.

For black with gold graphics, I put a gold base layer down, mask the pinstripes and use stencils for the Norton logo.
I then lay down the black top coat and clearcoat with a couple of layers over the gold. Once flatted it's totally level, and the graphics are blended in.
It might not be factory (painted on pinstripes and stick on logo not lacquered in), but it's far more durable.

Hershey,
Try MorriesPlace in Chicago. The transfers I got from him were good.

He is saying pinstripes are painted.
Yes, I was too cryptic & vague. The pinstripes should be hand painted. Therefore, the color paint easily matched.
We have a MASTER sign painter in our New England Norton club, he did mine and many others. Amazing work.
We HAD a very talented auto body shop MASTER who has relocated to NC. (He had done the AMAZING candy apple red)

I will see what my painter can do with hand painting pinstripes, not sure if he can.

Then he could use pinstripe stencil tape.

Amazon product ASIN B07TF3K8WK"Our tape works as a stencil. You simply apply the stencil, paint over it and peel it off.

It leaves the cleanest, sharpest line on your vehicle. Nothing even comes close. No fuzzy edges and no edge build-up because the stencil material is so thin. It is also versatile; you can make bends, points, corners and do two-tone paint pinstriping with it."

I use 3M fine line tape as a stencil
