Get yer motor runnin’ ...:

Ive been taking FE advise and heading out for Essential Supplies. I usually forget the backpack. Nobody has ever bothered me.
Yesterday, saturday, there were quite a few bikers out many two up. The roads out my way are small and narrow so actually we
would be violating the six foot four rule!
...and obviously camping out would be a major disease spreader. It is all just nuts at this point but I try to not upset others or the authorities.

NZ went to Level 2 Thursday and took the Snorton out for its first ride past the driveway in seven weeks today, and out for a good toddle around the block. I am on 14 acres and my neighbor is on 30, so it is a fairly looong block.

Once I figured out that the reason why my new hydraulic clutch wasnt really working did not relate to the need to deeply genuflect while bleeding it for the third time, all was good.

Turns out it was a more of a Zen and the Art of thing: bloody trim screw on the clutch lever was dialled all the way out. Doh!

Our state restrictions were lifted a little on Saturday and where allowed to travel 150km from home so round trip of 300km all up so took the Truxton out on Sunday with the wife all back roads to a mate's place just over 110km away in the country to his farm, first time out on the bike in 2 1/2 months as I been busy with home reno work, so many bikes out and about and was a great day out visiting old friends.

Thankfully, here in Texas, we were never restricted from freely riding pretty much anywhere we like, as long as we didn't gather in a group at any given point...

Here in Victoria, the kids will be back at school in a couple of weeks. Over the last few years, I've seen kids in day care centres with green snot running down their faces. So I don't like my chances of surviving. The kids' temperatures probably won't even be checked. The prime objective is getting the kids' parents back to work, so they need somewhere to dump their kids. There have been claims made that kids don't carry the virus - should I feel reassured ?
I would not be surprised if I was dead before next Christmas, if that was possible.

Sometimes - if you did not laugh, you would cry.

Rules are starting to get relaxed in some parts of Southern California, but here in my county the stay-at-home rule is still in force until the 31st for those of us 75 and older. Does that qualify as elder abuse? "Really officer, I'm just out shopping for food, but got lost and ended up in these canyons."

In fact, I haven't heard of them giving anything except warnings around here, and then only if you are stopped for something else.

If I was you Al I would get that Norton of your's road legal and enjoy it while you can and get out into those back roads, if you are worried about dying before next Xmas then I wouldn't be worried about cars or traffic on the roads.

After a tough winter this spring has been so nice that it has been hard not to go out for "necessary trips". What a treat to be out and about with no incomers clogging up the lanes at low speeds in bulging euro saloons. Funny how this goes and how lucky
we are to see what riding was like in 1950!

Well, enjoy it while you can mate, if flights and foreign holidays continue to be effected you’re gonna be bloody overrun with Emmetts down there come summer !!

I had to laugh as back just from a quick blast with a DLS front brake! You have to remember that we didnt use brakes so much back then and when we did we had more distance to stop. We really are lucky right now when it comes to riding if unlucky about most of the painters, tool rooms etc being closed.
Memorable days!

Well we just had our coldest day for May since 1922 and only a week to go before our Winter (bring it on lol), my Norton just loves the cold and runs so much better for some unknown reason, now just got to pull out all my Winter riding gear, the only thing I hate about riding in Winter is I have to wear gloves, but for Winter day time riding I wear double layer woolly fingerless gloves and full gloves when out in the cold nights riding.

What a difference temperature makes to our old brit bikes. You stay below 60F and the bike is happy oil pressure is fine and
away you go.
But despite warm temps I never neglect stout boots and strong gloves. You only have to fly along the road once to know that skin
doesnt last a moment in contact with tarmac.

Cold air is more dense than hot air, and has more Oxygen molecules per unit volume. So, you are effectively leaning out your motor and it is running cooler.

File under: 'It Had To Be Done'... or: 'Protecting My Sanity' perhaps? After weeks of being a good little citizen and following Uncle Bojo to the letter, increasing dissatisfaction with the 'rules' from above saw me close to causing an incident in the local supermarket... SO..... Taking dead Freddie's advice, time for the Norton to assume it's primary role of head clearer :)
After a quick flick with the feather duster (yes, really!) it repays my attentions by firing up second kick... atta boy!! Nothing heroic, just a hour playing on B roads and back roads, love the: 'Sack of spuds' slouch I have to adopt, surprisingly comfortable and the new shock absorbers doing their bit too. Love that the black caps are nicely subdued too, polite waves from horse riders as I dribble past, and a rock steady idle at the traffic lights with NO 'throttle blipping!! gets approval as well.
Post ride it's nice to note an absence of external lubricants (better check there's some internally!), the new AN scrolled tacho drive doing an excellent job where garter seals et al all eventually failed. Only blot on the copybook: New 13mm rear master cylinder lost it's cap and bellows... Fortunately I still have the OE one which fits but it's a b*gger to remove.. Still, better that than t'other way.
Did pass a few other two wheelers, some acknowledge... some don't. Lotus Elan and Fairthorpe Electron too, getting their exercise....
Norton riding: 'More smiles per mile.' Stay safe out there, people :)
