Hi everyone! It has been a while since I wrote back here, but using a lot of the forum to help me!

I read a lot of topics about gearbox, without really finding an answer to my problem.

I rebuilt my gearbox, and I had problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd. I removed the putter cover, checked the pawl alignment, bla-bla-bla, put the cover back, was able to shift from one to four, but then, I am unable to shift back from 4 to 3. 3rd gear seems to be a false neutral, or what ever?!

After reading some topics, it might be my return spring the problem. The ratchet of the outer cover is free, but pawl doesn't engage every time.

Is there a way to test the shifting manually without the outer cover? Quadrant seems ok.

Thanks!

I think it is your return spring. Go to old britts website and follow the adjustment procedure there precisely. If you pry on the quadrant you can force the gears to shift with the cover off. Good Luck.

Phliper,
make sure the pawl spring is in the right way. The dogleg bend should be on the bottom run. If not then you will have problems shifting.
Cheers,
Thomas
