ok, so I am about halfway through installing the Alton Estart on my 73 850
things were progressing along nicely, new Alton inner primary cover now in place, and
was about to reinstall my clutch when I noticed my Barnett friction plates were, once agin, worn to little nibbins at the tangs and that it was time to also order a new center hub as mine was notched pretty bad
so the install is stopped until these new parts come in
finally to my question! thanks for hanging in there...
when I install the clutch basket the manual calls for a whopping 70 foot pounds of torque
on the hub center securing nut
however, I have read that this amount of torque can and does shear off the circlip
what is the consensus nowadays for the torque, was it 50 foot pounds?
