Just recieved my new Emgo tank for my 72 combat project, although the tank is pretty nice I really dont like the giant seam in the front, has anyone tried to grind down and reweld the front of the tank? or am I asking for trouble?

I’m assuming you got the Emgo to replace a fibreglass one. The steels always had that seam, the glass ones are smooth. You could rebuild it, but it’s authentic as is.

Except for the '75 MkIII Roadster tanks. They are folded seam at front and back, so except for the reversed filler cap and lack of metal buttons for the rubber hold down strap, they are nearly impossible to tell from the fiberglass. That's what I have on my '69 'S'.

Hey, Ron. Do you have a picture of your 69S on the forum somewhere? I'd like to see it. I was going to respond, but I couldn't remember which tank had the folded seams. Good luck finding one. Might get someone to fix the Emgo?
