I dropped my wife and kids off at the airport on Saturday morning for a week at the Theme Parks on the Gold Coast in Aussie.....what was I going to do all weekend...... start on my 'to do list' on the house..... yeah right.
Wheeled out the Commando and did a 120 mile round trip up the west coast thru all my favourie winding roads, stopped at a cafe and sat admiring the bike..sipping my latte ( yep not much mongrel in us bikers these days... )
On the way back a sports bike sped past on the open section of road and I thought thats the last I see of him....... was I surprised to catch him up on the 35/45/55 KMPH corners!!!!!! I was really enjoying being on his tail....then the road opened up and he was goooooooone...... ( and so would his licence if he'd been pinged)
Got home and thought , thats enough for the weekend...... then my mate who has just bought an 850 asked me to ride down for a visit, he lives in the opposite direction and once you get past the 40 kms of motorway its more winding roads.....whoo hooo. This time I took the Ducati 900 ss ie....the Terreblanche one....I enjoyed this less than usual as I am finding the older bike easier to chuck around corners.

I took my mates 850 for a ride and he rode his other bike a Guzzi Lemans 2. I could not believe how different the 850 was from the Combat....it had those awful 'cow horn' bars on it that if it was mine would be binned on day one, and a Mikuni carb. Plenty of torque but did not spin up as quick.....interesting.

I got home at around 9 pm.....knackered.

Next morning dragged out the Combat and rode back down to his place and we did another 200 miles of country roads......what a great weekend, over 500 miles of riding, less than an hour from home.

I took the car to work today.....I'd had enough riding for while.... :D

Oh My oh My, food to my soul. You mirror my own fascination and road adventures and why I consider moderns corner cripples only excelling in bee line rocketry anyone can do by just hanging on to throttle. Can ya imagine my restlessness to try a Combat with maybe 100+ hp at real tire and weighting 1/3 less than most anything out there.

Grace day in winter today so my buddy Wes in on the way over to put head and stuff on factory Combat Trixie, i hope to enjoy in the tights and swoops but not going to blow her brains out winding to red line in straights the new road appliances can.

Yes, lots of rain....can go on for what seems like weeks.
Been a good summer so far, got to make the most of it.

Seems to be goin around! Put about 200 on mine this weekend! Running great! Trying to get some time in between the storms. Rained about 4 inches at my place last week. Another storm coming tomorrow night. Fine with me, got tank and side covers all fresh and purty coming in soon! :) Keep rockin the combat!

Hope the weather is OK up there for mum and the tin lids. it's been a bit damp lately. It's a bit like water world every where at the moment. Yeah 850's are lot different, good though.
