I've been looking in to getting some o-rings from our fuel pump manufacturer, since there seems to be demand for them. Previously, people have taken off the o-rings to send out, from perfectly serviceable fuel pumps, thus rendering them useless.
I have stopped this from happening, as it makes no commercial sense - so I apologise if you are (temporarily) unable to source o-rings via us.
We buy the pump as an assembly, hence why we aren't able to support on broken spigots etc - but again, if the demand is there, I'm happy to look in to it.
Don't over torque them 20NM is the spec.If your drain plugs are like mine then you can reuse them many times over. There is a groove that the rubber seal sits in. There is a hex Hole that you insert the allen key into . Is your drain plugs like that ?
This is one of the many reasons why this forum is so great. My fuel pump O ring appears to have given up the ghost. I found it leaking yesterday morning at 1300 miles.
also note that Moto Guzzi use the same pump and housing in some of their models. This is one of the many reasons why this forum is so great. My fuel pump O ring appears to have given up the ghost. I also have some Loctite 518 on the way as well.
2014. I’m thinking it’s a composite tank issueI would be interested to know what had happened here - how old is the bike? I wouldn't expect the o-ring to fail without either a manufacturing fault, assembly fault or tank flange fault/ distortion. I am very concerned about ethanol tank attack but wouldn't expect it at this age.

The sump plug seal is "profile seal" DIN 3869 M14X1.5 NBR. They're available, singularly could be a problem though. Mine has leaked on 1st reuse but a fibre washer from my old tins to the rescue for now. To me the groove in the plug is too deep, not enough seal protruding.Yes same type plugs with Viton "rubber" seals some new come with even wrong sized "loose" fitted seals.
All "rubber" o ring seals deteriorate in use and even when fitting. They can harden, stretch, compress, etc..
I have always been advised by manufacturers that they should be replaced after each use and not reused.
If one reused an o ring seal and it failed as with a sump plug leak engine oil which could spray on to rear tyre on a run and cause an accident and or engine or transmission failure if the transmission drain plug seal failed.
I doubt that Norton would warrant a failed engine or transmission due to an o ring that had been reused a number of times subsequently failed??
Personally I would rather be safe than sorry and replace such seals rather than reuse as is the recommendation of most vehicle manufacturers Worldwide for the normally small cost of an o ring and most are able to supply, some even supply sump plug seals with replacement oil filters and certainly with service kits. E.g. Toyota who also supply Toyota branded oil in their service kits at considerable discounted prices as well.
Hence my question as to whether the oil and transmission drain plug seals were available as I have as yet not found these plugs manufacturer or their type name and have previously asked then Norton dealers if they could supply seals or plugs who answered NO as they had tried but could not get them from Norton those subsequently ordered and paid for direct from Norton were sent to the same dealer without any details of who ordered and put in the dealer stock.
Took three weeks to get them eventually from the dealer after more calls to Norton etc.
Cheers Tony, I had an Al washer and the fibre one in my hand but chose the fibre as it is a better fit.Hello Al , Some have gone to the Hex bolt type drain plug with magnet insert and aluminum crush washer with satisfactory results. A company called DIMPLE makes them or you can find it on AF1 racing website etc. Pricey though $35. USD .
