Hi Gents and Geniuses-

This may be a silly question: there is a groove at the top of the pistons on my Amals; and in looking at every exploded diagram I can find there is no O-ring indicated, nor do mine have any. I just wanted to make sure that I am not missing something here? Is there supposed to be an O-ring in that groove, or is it just there for some other reason? I've never seen another set of carbs and I just want to make sure I'm not as dumb as I think I am.

Thanks!! eric

If by 'Amal piston' you are referring to the slide which goes up and down - to control the throttle - then no, there is no o-ring.

The amal I just inspected to see what you mean, the groove was so slight it was barely there.
Part of the machining process - or to trap any minor dust perhaps ??

Hi- in inspecting the other carb, there is a difference in the slides- one has a pronounced, machined groove, the other has only the slight indentation mentioned above. I can only guess there must be some difference in machining... so no o-ring.

thanks guys!
