hi all, still quite new to this forum, have got plenty of good tech tips and enjoyed the Nigeria ride!!!Thanks to all for input
Here in NZ the highest octane fuel we can get at the pump is 98 unleaded, there is some fuel catalysts available on Trade Me (NZ equivalent of eBay) any comments on fuel and catalysts appreciated, my past Nortons in the '70's we ran on Avgas for beach racing, higher octanes were also available at the time and leaded. 1973 850 Roadster (ex USA) all stock except for Pazon ignition set at 31 degrees.
Regards Mike

G,Day it should run fine on 98 thats what i use ! even 95 is ok. without throwing money away on snake oils and hair growing elixers !!!
Cheers.

Thanks, just coming from an enginnering background, was a liitle anxious about the unleaded on the valves is all

Blankety blankety . If your center electrodes melting , its to far advanced . :D . If the Corners of the Center post errode off round , you can pull the ignition back a bit .
In norrmal use a old Bonne being thrashed will round em off a bit at peak power setting , touring it shouldnt be evident to any degree perhaps , even @ 110 cntinuos , white pipes
But if you redline it occasionally peak ign adv is better output , solo . Pottering around a lot set at 28 deg , but there in the Northern Hemisphere , and the airs not as clean . :P

9 : 1 or under C.R. is ok for that stuff they pass of as petrol . 1 in 10 Shell 100 octane got the bottom end throttle response back , late 90s on the 265s , cut like a dog std. and
were on or off in carprks , perfectly behaved with the ' supliment . Keep an ear out for pinging in the mountains there on test , if youve got a open helmet .
But tall gearing you change down to third below 80 mph anyway up mountains , The lower throttle position revealing the correct gear .
lugging it two up with 5 ton of luggage is not recomended .

Thanks Matt, have been out of the bike loop for a few years so combing the forum. Heading home to the BOP next week , waiting on carbs from JS to arrive, so was checking on fuel before mounting them.
