Does anyone with 18" wheels notice how oversized the front mudguard looks, I've half a mind to put new holes in the fork bracket and cut the stay tubes to suit, has anyone else done this. I run a 90/90 front, there must be that much wind getting in the guard I reckon it's hindering my topspeed :P

I don't know about Commando guards, but for mudguards generally they often come
in different curvatures to suit different uses, so you can get 19" versions and 18" and 21" etc etc.
The 19" and 18" versions are visibly different, and it shows.

Road equipment does chop off mph, but if you've ever copped a lump of mud in the eye at any speed
on a muddy road, you'll know why bikes have mudguards !

It's all down to the look of the thing. At least the smaller wheel will be concentric with the mudguard. If you lower the mudguard closer to the tyre it will look wrong unless you get a different radius mudguard. You could always drill some holes in the mudguard to let the wind get through.

+ 1,

Don't lower the mudguard, it won't look right.

Sup to you though, it's your bike.

There must be a market for mudguards suitable for use with 18 inch wheels on classic bikes. I like the mudguards which are stock on CT110 Hondas. I've got a fibreglass guard for my Seeley, however I'm reluctant to use it. It is wrong for the era.
