I have a 1974 850 Roadster MK2A and I need to order the front brake hose, Group #22, Item #26. They list 5 different lengths. Does anyone know how to determine what length is required for a particular model/year.

And, the obvious thing is to measure first before you toss the part, but, of course; I never did that.

Thanks in advance.

It depends on what handlebars you have not the model/year. Take a piece of wire and form it to go where the hose would go then measure. If in doubt get the closest longer one - shorter probably won't work.

If you don't need to be concours, the stainless steel braided lines preform much better with the combination 13mm bore mod on the M/C. Russell braided lines have a clear plastic coating on the outside and are reasonable in price point. As stated by marshg246, the length is determined by the handlebar type. Ie. European, Western (American), clip on or High rider.
Cheers,
Tom

I used Speigler and gave them the length from tip to tip.You can order it with any color you want on the protective covering.About $80.00 bucks.Good service and they know Norton’s.

Thank you for the replies, I don't have access to the bike, but the handlebars are "semi western". Anyone care to suggest the length based on those bars?

Thanks

I recently went back to the stock bars and bought a new hose from AN. It was 06.3507, which is 28" long. This was on a '72 combat which should be the same as your 850.
