I ordered some rubbers from RGM for my long RGM kickstarters but they sent me the wrong ones. It was going to cost more than their retail price to send them back, so now I have eight OEM rubbers that are surplus to needs.
Anyone in Oz want some?
(they did send the correct ones later, by the way!)
Cheers

PS: I know some people say by shortening them a bit they will fit the RGM kicker. Those people people really don't kickstart their bikes! Yes, they will actually "fit on" but the ID is a bit bigger so they flog out very, very rapidly. I know - I've tried!

I almost exclusively kickstart my 850, just test Matt's wonderful E-start every now and then to check it's still working.
It's so I can still ride when I'm too old and crotchety to kick - which, thankfully, isn't yet. (you - in the peanut gallery - keep it down!)
Nigel (@Fast Eddie ) will be rolling in the gutter laughing when that happens! ;)
Cheers

Yeah me to Rob, something really satisfying about starting it without assistance, man and machine in perfect harmony 🤣

I was going to remove the electric starter on my Ferrari 328 to get that satisfying "starting without assistance" feeling but couldn't figure any way to get a crank mounted.

OK, not really.

BUT

I installed an Alton E-start on my Commando in December '12. Sometime in November '12 was the last time I kick started it. I removed the kickstart lever a year later.... ;)

Watch out you don't get RSI in your starting thumb, but why are the ES kits so expensive, yes lots of work involved but to a common man just way too much, I could buy a whole project bike cheaper than a ES kit for my bike, now all I got to do is learn to kick it without my kicking leg as I still haven't found my leg yet, be a bit off by now lol, need a bionic kicking leg installed in my new one, hopefully the start of my new walking leg on my first amputee rehab on Thursday, can't wait to get started coming up to 3 months now of recovery and the stump is looking good.

I agree. I press the little red button in a manly fashion and the bike bursts into life.

No assistance required. I press the button all by myself…

Perfect harmony !!
FE, you reach a point in life where kicking isn't fun. I don't care if it's one kick. Push the button and off you go.:)

I’m not at that stage just yet. My problem was the moronic engine builder who made it 920cc AND 11:1 compression ratio AND used total seal rings.

(Note: I built the engine myself !!)
You should re-post that video of your daughter watching/commenting as you (snort!!) try to kick it! 🤣

I'm way past that stage. I think the last time I kick started the Norton as in 2018? I went to "The Roar to the Shore" in Wildwood, NJ determined to win a trophy. I did that, with a first place trophy. It took me about 9 kicks to get her going. Who knows why. I wouldn't attempt to kick your bike. Sounds like surgery to me. My dick probably works better than my right leg:)

You’d start my bike with your dick?

That is impressive !! 🤣

And he’s the sales pitch for the cNw starter…

I’m no lightweight, and the effort I had to put into kicking the f*cking thing really worried me that the kickstart may snap mid kick or something equally horrendous.

With that in mind, just look how fast and effortlessly the cNw start spins the motor, and (along with Tri Spark ign and cNw coil) how instantly it starts…

Anyway, to get back on topic, as well as preventing possible death, probable injury and subsequent time off work… the e-start saves me a small fortune, and a large carbon footprint, in annual kick start rubber purchases …

You are not alone in building an engine you cannot start....

Put a Joe Hunt magneto on your hard to kick bikes and only use 1/2 a kick to fire them up.
I had to put this up to stir all you old girls who can't kick no more :D🤣🤣🤣

Fu ck I just remembered I can't kick no more, where is my fu cking missing kicking leg, no one has found it yet.

Just having a bit of fun with you old girls/farts.
