free carb needles

hi i have two new four ring slide needles for 932 amal 850 commando free to a good home folks on this forum have been nice to me so i am passing it on

The taper on the needles affects performance. It compensate for loss of vacuum. How many tapers do Amal needles come in ? Nearly every new model of Japanese motorcycle which has carburetors , has different needles to previous models.

A few Al, I replace my needles and jets every few years as they do wear, many years ago I went to my local British bike shop that I have been getting my parts from since 1978 (BJs in Brisbane) and brought new needles and jets, when installed and fired up the Norton it was reving very high and couldn't get the revs down in both carb's, pulled the needles out and put then beside my old ones to find the needles were shorter, took them back over the other side of town, some how someone put Triumph needles in with the Norton needles, so pays to check before fitting and not trust the person you are buying from.

Amal has two types one for the early carbs used in all sorts of bikes 622/124 (2 ring ID) and then the late type used in 32mm Norton carbs with the stepped spray tube 928/104 (4 ring ID) so there ain't much to choose from, But the carbs work quite well in spite of it.
