I found this frame at what was basically a garage sale mixed in with Harley Davidson parts. He said it was a Kenny Dreer prototype. Would anyone have an idea how to mount the motor? Are parts available or is this one off? Would I need to find Kenny Dreer to buy parts?

Thanks.

Hi Dave, good find. It sure looks like a Kenny Dreer frame. Not identical but very similar to the one in this earlier post. Any plans for it? I'm wondering if it's for the standard commando motor or the Dreer prototype. Cheers for posting pics.

That rear section doesn't look like tranny crade setup riggins.

Too bad it didn't come with one of the early prototype 952 engines...

You'd have to be as creative as Dreer to finish up the OIF plumbing and venting. The mono shock swing arm looks like it may need a shift in the tranny drive sprocket as intended for a wider tire and maybe a small OD wheel too going by the space taken up by the boxed end. Can't see if the upper end of mono shock mount has been created yet either. I'll bet if ya ping Kenny he'd help sort it for you to decide on.

Here's one Dreer built for Tim Tool Man Allan

Frame and swingarm have the attachment points for traditional dual shocks

Right. I have the only monoshock frame Kenny ever built. He decided to go back to dual shock on the working test bikes, and all the design work after that.

Right about here is where I expect certain people to chime in with something along the lines of "yeah, because the monoshock setup is a death trap"...

So I have to ask, Are you dead yet?

Not yet, but I haven't done 8,574 miles at 145 MPH through mountains in sub-freezing weather...

...yet...

Kenny isn't hard to find but he doesn't have any parts left.

You pretty much be building a custom bike with a decent starting point.

Fortunatley, I know what that frame is, one of several prototypes, some worked, some did not, some had a purpose, and some didnt work at all. All in a days work building a brand new machine. But dont you just LOVE garage sales?
Stay tuned, Ill post pictures of some stuff with this frame that will blow your mind.
Whole lotta torque about Norton Davidson.
vroom vroom..Gird yer loins laddies.

Look forward to it.

I added it to my collection. It seems like a funner project than the Monkey Wards, but a lot harder to finish. I could always weld a tab onto it and make a monoshock. Hobot will you test ride it for me?

Hehe I was just getting into picturing the lawn wheelies on your Cushman clumsy as you hit me with experimental pilot thrills and chills, but I'm told we only live once and done right once is enough, 'cepting re-torquing and regrowing stuff.

I really do have a sequence now for working up any bikes limits and living to remember lesions > Lean >> power >>> forks. But I'm backasswards wired so would start on low aired tires and grass and Gravel till innate sense of its swing out twist fall down skip out jiggle jollies that don't take much to get over before heading out for 2nd phase where most are just starting from, uhhuh no sir ree bobbie, I learn to crash before learning to really ride one into crashing recovery reflexes faster than thought. Noise and grinding must occur routinely ho-hum-ly before nailing traction risking states.

Below some reasonable threshold even hard tail brakeless choppers are a delight to run about on so mainly breakage might be the issue with this discarded Dreer frame, one mightn't recover from. How lucky do ya feel punk?

I'm sure a Kenny Dreer frame powered by a Monkey Wards/Benelli 175cc 2-stroke will tax you, hobot. I can use the OIF as a gas tank.

"Riding round the world on a 1965 Ducati 250 with plans to do Alaska to Argentina on Brit Iron next"

Dave, Could you go into this a little bit? There are a few Brit-Iron-Butt types on this list.
Thanks, Bob

I didn't know that the sig line had to be unselected each post.

I'm on the world's slowest round the world ride. I circled Australia, blew up the Duc in New Zealand, went to Japan without it. Worked in California then tried to get the Duc shipped to India. The Aussie government was giving me grief about shipping, so I bought an Indian plated Enfield 350 in Nepal and smuggled it across the border back into India. I went all over India. Earlier this year, I finished a year in Saudi Arabia saving money to travel with. No bike there.

I was hoping to be in Turkey by now working to save up money and to wait out winter so I could ride across Russia and Mongolia. Instead I'm in Oregon where Dreer frames can be found at garage sales. I'm working for parts and advice to build a Brit bike. I'm not sure what I'll build but probably a 1950-ish Triumph 650 pre-unit. I'll upgrade with some unit parts. I might build a BSA though since I would like something with a sidecar. Next year I should be headed to Europe on the Duc.

I've heard of some Dreer body parts that might be for sale so I'm off on the hunt.
