Forks trouble

Hi all, have a Triumph fork which is incomplete. Discovered this when I took it apart this morning, I believe it is from 1968-70 because it has only 2 bolts holding the clamps for the wheel axle, and it´s the 8" drum brake. But I´m not sure of this, so correct me if I´m wrong. My question is, it had the long hydraulic dampers in it, but just the damper bolted in the bottom of the forks. Nothing else. So can I put the other type of damper in the lower fork legs that I have? Will that fit? I bought new stansions and they are the type with 8 holes, so the bottom nut that holds the bush has another thread on it. I hope this makes sence.......

Shuttle valve forks 68-70 did not have a damper body, just a shuttle valve located in the bottom of the stanchion but allowed to move up and down between 2 positions, up is compression, down is rebound.

This is the 1968 version

Moving between the damper body to shuttle is fraught due to thread changes, the compression bump stop in the bottom of the fork legs is a different shape with different thread and must be changed, but very hard to get to.

The 2 bolt axle retainers go back to well before 68, so you need to identify the bump stop down inside at the bottom.

Yeah, just talked with a friend about this, and he said the same. As far as I can see the fork legs look the same as in that pic, but I have the damper body and internal springs.....? My friend also said that it was not unusual to change out the damper system and put in the valves instead. I have found at least two retailers in Britain who has all the parts needed on the shelf. I might also have found a contact here in Sweden who has all the necessary parts to "upgrade"(?) But first I´ll try to see how the bottom of the legs look like inside.
