How many fork bush/seal kits come without the paper washer :?:
This paper washer seals the seal edge/top bush flange from oil creeping past and between the seal outer edge and slider reccess, many leave this out, when oil appears on the stancion.
Owners quickly think its the seal lip thats failing..But sometimes its the outer edge..a thin smear of sealant will prevent this..along with the paper washer.
Oil pressure will try to sqeeze past this forgotton area, a tiny bit of dirt/bur will produce a "gate-way" for the oil.
I would guess not many fit the paper seal :?:

No one apparently knows what the function was-is for the thin paper washers as they sure don't seal around the edges. Only thing I know they have a purpose for is to act as shims on RGM fork brace to allow oil seal hand tightening down enough to seal on top of the bush w/o a gap.
