Hello to all,

Working on the forks. Making a parts list and was wondering.
What is the purpose of the fibre washer in between the bottom of the damper and the slider?
I am also wondering what the purpose of the paper washer between the upper bronze bushing and the fork seal is?
Are these parts made from special material or can I just use whats on hand. Seems a paper washer can be made from gasket material and the local parts purveyor will have a likely fibre washer candidate.
What is their purpose?
My best guess is separating dissimilar metals but I figure this isn't such an issue with them being submerged in fork oil.

Any input appreciated.

The bottom one keeps the oil in the fork, the top one over the seal is a spacer only, most likely for manufacturing variations in bore depth, seal size.

Most for fumbleling and crumbleling as don't seal oil worth a whitworth. In some cases can act as spacer of sorts to snug the seal collar down at a certain point or compression. But as oil seal, heehehehehehe
