Hi all,

I need to replace the O rings that go between the upper fork legs and the ears

can someone tell me what side, ID and thickness to get? should be available at a local hardware shore if I had the size

thanks!

1up3down, does this rattle only happen when your in low speed and go over a marginal bump. I have a knocking noise at low speed going over small bumps, its definatly in the front end area. Checked all the fender bolts, disc brake bolts and fittings and the speedo/tacho mounts. Also checked the headlight to be tight as well.

IF just the head light mounts rattle, while waiting on oil rings and time to steal for fork removal I have gone many silent rough miles with black elect or clear packing tape. Couple years headlight was missing clips which also rattles and screw light aim but clear tape did the trick and not easy to notice but the glue does leave a mess and can enhance corrosion on chrome. Trixie gets forks opened for new rubbers as also needs new clock glass anyway so hey I find I am a more efficient mechanic when patient enough for double incentives.

is it more of a 'clunk' than a 'rattle'.
if so, you are hearing the stock fork bottom out.
Not sure if there is another solution, but the best cure is a set of Lansdowne internals.

See if the left hand fork slider moves back and forth along the wheel's axle. If you can, then the pinch bolt is not tight enough. This is another source of front end rattle as you described.
