I’m looking for the length from the axle center to the top of the stanchion (uncompressed).
Not having much luck finding it, I guess it’s not really a relevant dimension for servicing but I’m considering an alternative front end option for my build and want to make sure it’s not too short.

Cheers!

Topped out I get 738 mm to the top of the upper triple, 748 mm to the top of the mount for the instrument bezel which is the under side of the top fork cap.

I get same figures, the alternative setup I am working on is the following.

1. CBR600 F4i 2001 forks, 43mm stanchions but not USD, Showa 20mm cartridge with shim stack, adjustable low fork speed rebound and compression. Forks are 800mm, on the Honda the drop bars are clamped above the top yoke so if setup that way the forks are same length as Norton.

2. Yamaha R6 5EB alloy yokes for 43mm stanchions, 30mm yoke stem, largest offset of the R6 yokesat 40mm but still less than std Norton so increased trail. 205mm width so room for dual discs.

3. Double row air compressor bearings for headstock, same od as 6205 but 30mm ID. There are also motorcycle headstock bearings with od as 6205 and a 30mm ID as alternative.

4. CB750 spoked front hub, can take 2 discs, Monster 600 320mm will fit hole configuration just needs spacers, one spacer needs to be 3mm thicker than other as disc faces are not central (hub is single disc but has 2 faces conveniently). Bearing housings are 42mm OD so original bearings for small axle can be replaced with 20mm ID bearing for 20mm axle. Looking at photos a GS1000 spoked hub looks to be a good alternative.

5. Pair of Brembo P4 34/30 calipers using adaptor plates.
