"I will shorten some Commando damper tubes to fit into an Atlas , so I want to know what is the difference , I had checked with AN site and it says : 8 " 7/8 - 7" 5/8 = 1" 1/4 (31.75 mm), RGM : 232mm -194mm =38mm, Atlantic Green : 9.125 -7.75=1.375 ( 34.9mm), as the nominal lenght could be different from one to the other , but at least the difference should be the same or nearly .............but not ?? any thoughts !

Years ago I measured Commando, Atlas, and N15 damper tubes. What I have recorded is:
Commando - 9 1/8" including the lower mount stub (8 7/8" without)
Atlas - 7 3/4 " (7 5/8" without)
N15 - 11" (10 3/4" without)

Hi Ron, thank you ,so you comply with AN , and thus I have to shorten them by 1"-1/4, will do that , have a great day .

Not really answering your question, but as Norton went from F/B to Commando and lengthened the forks and stanchions (tubes), they extended the internal damping mechanism by lengthening the dash pots, The damper rod dimensions (other than the threads), and the fork springs lengths, remained the same length. :)

What is F/B….Fastback? ’68 to ‘69 Commandos have a shorter stanchion?
