While working on my 71 roadster I have noticed that the right hand foot peg mount has a plain hole in it and the peg itself has a threaded end with a nut on it. The left side has a threaded hole in the mount and the peg threads into it with no nut on it. Supposed to be this way?? Mix and match from the spare parts bin?? Any advantage to fitting folding foot pegs?
Thanks

Yours may of been dropped on R side so bent foot peg may of been drilled out to recover. Commando's unless altered lean foul on center stand or muffler before factory placed ridgid pegs but do help protect rest of bike on mild crashes. Harder drops bang stalks into covers as well as injure pegs. Kick side rear set peg must fold up or be removable to kick pass it.

Still looking for an answer about the threaded vs unthreaded peg mounts??

The simple answer is yes it should have a thread were the foot peg screws in (7/16 unf from memory but i could be wrong). Hobot has a point about old accident repair which would explain why its not there now.

My '73 850 is the same and I've had it since it was about 2 years old so am sure it's original. LH one is screwed into the bracket whilst RH one has a nut on it. I wonder if it was done that way because the LH one sits quite close to the primary chaincase?

That's exactly how my '71 was/is, well at least before I mounted the Hyde Rear Sets.
