Jim,
Was that Rotella T-6 blue jug or Rotella T-4 white jug.

I've revised my earlier post to include this conventional oil. Looks like Spectro also has semi- and full-synthetic products. I'm gonna send you a quart of their full synth, branded for BMW (EDIT: This is no longer true; BMW has switched suppliers)
And yes, Mobil 1 seems the clear winner for "value". Nothing else tested here so far is even close.
This article maybe puts a different twist on the "value" of the tested oils here?
For instance, if the Redline ( as reported by Goldwater but not yet tested by Jim) could wait for 3000 miles before requiring change-out, but the Mobil 1 was all used up at 1000 miles, it wd require a correction factor of 3 to assess "bang for the buck". Does that sound right?
$ on its way Jim.
Your testing is much appreciated. The Spectro semi-synthetic, or at least the one I've had good luck with that is supposed to be a "high-zinc formula", is called "Golden 4". I've noticed my old Honda CBs shift a bit smoother than the Spectro conventional oil (which I used for a couple years) in the pic above. Would you like a quart of the synthetic blend sent your way Jim?

Hi Jim,If you send it I will test it. I'm always interested. Jim
Hi Jim,
I have a quart of Motul 5100 semi-synthetic I'd like you to test. It is the factory recommended oil for my Aprilia V twin. However, I've had it for a couple of years. Is there a shelf life for oil that you know of?
Thanks,
Ed
Some interesting pricing in NZ:
Spectro Heavy Duty 20w50 is 15.30/qt
RP XPR is 27.60/qt
M1 Vtwin is 30.99/qt
Motul 300v is 36.90/qt
Looks like XPR is the bargain winner...
Hi Jim,If you send it I will test it. I'm always interested. Jim
OK Jim,Last time I asked the tech guys at Mobil that question they said a few years was no problem but be sure to shake the oil well before using it.
Just a quick comment to all those who are not in the US...
In the UK at least, the Mobil 1 we can buy at Halfords etc is nothing like the Mobil 1 V twin synthetic that Jim tested here.
I’m guessing Old Hall Performance or Opie Oils can supply it, but I haven’t checked yet.
But do not buy the normal stuff from Halfords and think you’re getting what Jim got!
Btw- 1 NZD = .67 USDThe Motul Lemans 300v is $33.00 for a 2 liter container here.
I have never seen it in a 1 qt or 1 liter container.
The royal Purple XPR 20-50 is $12.75 a qt here.
These prices were on Amazon and included shipping.
I have used this from Opie.....it isn't 20w50.....but it is affordable in the UK, can be supplied in France too via Amazon!Following this thread with great interest!
Some of the oils are not readily available in the UK but I found a couple of sources for Mobil 1 V-Twin Fully Synthetic 20w-50:
https://www.customcruisers.com/cont...son-mobil-1-engine-oil-v-twin-20w-50-oil.html
and
http://www.custom-baggers.co.uk/con...-davidson-flht-electra-glide-maintenance.html
There are several suppliers for Royal Purple - but prices are suitably regal!

Great work Jim
As the thread is now getting "spread out" at the end of testing is it possible all the data could be made up into some sort of folder or spreadsheet?
Many thanks
