Very nice job Esme,
Would you be interested in making me a set?

Cheers,

cliffa.

Very nice, I think you could sell them.
Did you also make the rubber part? How did you adhere the rubber?

Decades ago, someone [DomiRacer? KK Cycle Supply?] sold a similar product. The folding section was round like the solid peg. You simply installed the stock foot peg rubbers onto the new folding pegs. I used them on both my Commandos. Nice job.

Norvil in the U.K. list folding pegs.

But the ones made by the OP look great!
Good work!

Thank you glad you like them, this first pair was a steep learning curve, it took me a day and a half to make on my hobbyist lathe/ milling machine, so life is too short for me to make them for others  However as there seems to be some interest I will ask a friend of mine in the engineering business to give me a price and moq to manufacture the mounts on quality machines. I will come back to you with a kit price.

Very nice job!

There IS one advantage to the stock non folding ones, do a good job protecting the bike in parking lot drops!

Very nice and clean.
My project bike was an old race bike and the PO had modified a set of folding rear footrests to comply with track requirements. Those are very pretty. Great job.

Hi Esmerela, They do look the business! I'd be interested in a pair if you do go into production....

Many thanks

Ditto.

Version 2 could have a return spring.
I would be interested in a set of that type as well - just saying.

When I purchased my Commando 35 years ago, it came with one broken footpeg. Not sure how, but no sign of damage on the bike. I've never liked non-folding footpegs, so made these out of, I think, 750 Honda pegs. Still going well after all that time.
Cheers, Lance

Ditto, if made in work-hardened stainless steel and featuring a flip-up spring.

I have a bike which came with a folding footrest on the rt side (kicker) only. Never figured out as to the reason why.
Maybe the original shaft broke and they couldn't find a replacement.

For those who expressed an interest in the folding foot rests, my friend with the engineering company said the minimum quantity he will produce would be 50 items (25 sets) but we can break this down in to tapered and non tapered foot rest mounts (lugs) so that we can accommodate old and new, lead time is five week from date of order. I am looking into sourcing suitable return springs for those who want them,
one I have this sorted I will be able to price the kit up.

Folding footrest mean that I can put both feet down with out getting a dig in the calves from the rests, I no longer have to sit like John Wayne when I want to put both feet down at the same time, I guess it depends on age how tall you are, and what handle bars you have on your bike as they would effect you seating position. I also like to fold the rests up out of the way when the bike is in the workshop.

Hi

I have found a return spring that works well with the folding footrests, I had to add a top hat spacer and longer bolts and a roll pin to my original design but they came looking OK 8)

The lugs ,nuts, bolts, washers and the roll pins are all stainless; the rests are aluminium and the rubbers are moulded over steel and pop riveted to the rests.

Some folks have expressed an interest in me making some kits for sale  So now for the painful part - I have to make 25 sets for reasons explained in an earlier post. :!: so the sale price would be £70 ( US $90 ) + postage and packing for a pair of folding spring return front footrests. I need requests for 25 sets to make this work, I have posted this on the Norton Owners Club site as well, please send me a pm if you are interested and lets see how much interest there is.

I'm in, I've a narrow garage & always catch my leg on the original footrests while moving the Norton!!

In my opinion not much at all, they do look good but to me the folding foot peg sits out further from the foot rest mounts, there is that gap where the foot peg folds which in turns makes your foot sit out further from the gear lever and brake lever, I like to have my feet as close to my levers as possiable with lest foot movement as well having the folding foot rest sticking out further they be bumping up every time you go into tight corners with your foot on them, I don't have any problems with my stock foot pegs scraping and in 42 years of owning and riding my Norton I have only broken 2 left hand pegs in all that time, I think I perferr my foot peg to break off if I go down on the road as thats what they are designed for, why do you think they put shear pins in machinery, so the pins break before the machine does, a broken foot peg be better than a foot peg sticking in the road while sliding down and flipping your bike over doing more damage and yes I broke them while sliding down the road.
