someone is bringing a MK3 to me complaining of "extreme vibration" and hinting that the flywheel might have got turned around during crank service. Did the factory provide any method of flywheel location? Both sides look identical to me. I've always scratched an arrow on top just in case but this one is new to me.

I will check all the easy things first such as iso adj, timing, and carburetion.

It's always funny (ironic) how some people can think they know what is wrong, and in many cases what needs to be done to fix it, yet hand them a wrench and they suddenly clam up.

Keep us posted...

Extreme vibration, where in the rev range, would have thought if the flywheel was put in the other way around the not so highly accurate machining of the day would make it un-noticeable or at a different point in the rev range. Most probably something simple, no end float, crankcase to cradle bolts not done up etc. Might be just a case of the new isolastics actually doing their job and the owner sees it as different.

Yes, I'd be trying new iso rubbers and checking the balance of the wheels and trying a new chain
and checking wheel alignment before stripping the engine down - and then finding nothing ? !!
