How can I feed oil to a Atlas head fitted to a commando. Top feeding the oil leaks due to the head steady. I have been advised to plug the botton of the original head feed to stop the leak, then drill the side of the head half way between the top rocker shaft cover bolts. Can anyone give me the details that I can pass onto an engineer to undertake the work for me. Or is there a simpler way?

Has anyone fitted an Atlas head to a Command.
How do you get round the top oil feed and the isolastic head brace.

That wouldn't be the end of it, as there would have to be feed gallery drillings connecting the "half-way" position on each side to the rocker shaft drillings.

Edit: That is, unless the side drillings could be connected to the Atlas "top oil feed" rocker drillings but then it wouldn't cure the oil leakage problem.

Thanks for the feedback. I took the plunge, so I got a new reconditioned commando head, after spending what I have there is no point taking shortcuts.

Hello,
I'd think that's a rather easy task. Just plug the 2 original oil feed holes by means of a short M6 plug.
The new oil feed can be done through the 2 inlet rockershaft covers. These certainly need to be converted by brazing a 7/16" nut and drill a hole through the cover.
The oil will run to the exhaust shaft through the original oil bores.
I saw a conversion like this at an classic meeting at Hockenheim/Germany
Best Regards
Klaus
