Got the free Historic Vehicle Tax on Saturday no problems :D took the old gal out for a shake down in yesterdays sunshine, boy oh boy! do these old girls run well :D.

Happy days,

Dave

Yeah went for a blast on mine too (72 750 Roadster) as Sunday was nice and sunny. Started easily, idled at 500rpm in all the right places (like when everyone is watching) and ran like a good 'un when the road opened up a bit.
What's not to like?
Cheers, Martin

taxed mine over the weekend, ready for the season, will be out asap in the build up to Spanish trip again in June.

last sunday was my first run of the year. and probably the nortons only run this year.
tons of blue smoke.
gudgeon pin circlip had gone and now I've got some hefty gouges out the barrel, piston is knackered barrel will probably get sleeved :(

Checked the oil; it had not drained down. ??? Went to close the float bowl drain cock on the Mikuni; I had forgotten to open it last fall. Nuts! Well, try anyway... First kick, and I have witnesses! She ran like it was any other summer day. I'm spoiled

Had mine out for a quick, 30-mile local loop to test the new seals in the primary (also popped in a new main seal) and the alternator re-wiring. Everything functioning as designed-for now.

First run in the sun, Largs bikes on the beach. Think it was a Hog thing. Don't know who took this photo but it wound up on t' inter web . Started second kick I'm happy to say and after sitting for a few hours never left one drip of oil .

I bought a spare set of cylinders just in case , if you've got the parts a day or two and you're back on the road, best of good fortune with the fix.

I fired my 850 interstate up this past Sunday and took her out for 1 hour/ish ride with ambient temps hovering about 60 F with sunshine. I wait for a few good rain showers to blast through our area to wash off most of the salt that Ontario MOT loves to dump on all our highways during the winter. The crank was totally wet sumped and it started first kick with the amals on a little tickle. and choke on. With the seat off, I opened the oil tank filler cap and watched the Comstock crank valve spew the oil right back to the tank while holding about 1200 RPM.. When most of the crank vent line was replaced with air I re-closed the cap to stop some of the over spray from the oil returning because the vent hole is so close to the top. I like that the sump oil is high and sprays onto my cam from the flywheel right away on start up. After about 4 ½ minuets, I rechecked the oil level. Back to where it normally lives. Thanks comnoz. 8)
Cheers,
Thomas

I never took mine off the road for winter but keeping it clean from the salt on out roads is painful. I coated it with some PX32 military grade inhibitor, it looks like shit and is really difficult to remove as I have now just found out. Heated grips and a pair of those hideous handlebar muffs make winter riding do-able. The dual output coil from Trispark has transformed the performance after some pain with the twin 6v coils.

Well you sure made them all look, they are probably thinking what a cheeky so and so crashing our hog mob on the beach, or they could be thinking I wonder if my Hog will be around as long as this classic, it a good pic and hope you fix your problem fast, all the best for your riding season.
