This gearbox will work, it just won't last long under full abuse. If Herb finds some funding and builds a double engine land speed bike, the plan is to use a Harley gearbox . A TT gearbox couldn't handle 240 hp running methanol and 15 lbs of boost either...

I contend it wouldn't work AT ALL with full power. It won't wear out quickly, rather it will GRENADE with that much torque applied. Here's what my BONE STOCK 850 did to the box when horsed:

Team Pegasus also ran a 2 speed transmission with their twin engine setup.
 
Same story for the Gulf Norton landspeed racer built by Dennis Manning. It originally ran twin Triumphs and a Triumph gearbox, which broke repeatedly. When they got Norton sponsorship and switched to a pair of 850 engines running methanol/nitromethane fuel, they fitted a Harley 4 speed gearbox. Not sure how well that worked. They made a few good runs, some over the record, but were never able to keep it going for the backup runs. I don't know if any of that was due to the gearbox.

Love the double Triumph! Herbs real goal is to do a double Norton land speed bike, if he can get a budget from somewhere, Double H is really just a rough mock up for that...

Herb has it torn down right now and is planning on rebuilding it with a more finished look. He is thinking of changing the phasing as well so they are not one up, one down as it seems that the motors are trying to pull the bike apart. He is working on finishing his hot rod Olds car and will get back to Double H when the car is finished. -Doug
 
I can fully understand why he wants to get the Olds finished up first. I think everybody needs a hot rod to compliment their Norton toys.

The Double H Norton will be one heck of a crowd pleaser. I wish him well on completing both of those projects.
