if this is old info, sorry. just thought i'd post this. saw a youtube video on this spanner for the exhaust pipe finned nuts. i'm thinking it's for a BMW bike. went one step farther and removed every 3rd tooth. worked great. here's a link to the original video.

It is a BMW airhead tool. They are available with the gaps.

I had one of those alloy spanners like the one in Mi Ty's video which I also removed teeth but it eventually broke. The type above/below is stronger (or I just haven't managed to break it...yet).

I bought one of these but I've had to send it back as it didn't fit my fins. 1974 MkIIA. I've opted for the more traditional C-spanner from Andover.

The exhaust rings on your Mk2A are the long thread 750 type as the originals would've been the short 850 type shown in Mi Ty's video.

Ah, same thread though? Mines an 850.
Yes same thread. The mkii's had the balance pipe headers which meant they needed a way to remove the rose nuts from the engine side thus they have split collets and hence shorter threaded sections. The 750 style non balanced headers can be used either with the longer threaded rose nuts or with shorter plus a second sealing ring help take up some extra space.
