The Norley is the latest sea all the lemmings are running to.

As has been thrown up in other threads with the title "Super Sportster", Harley has such a long and rich competition history to draw from, including some of the slickest road racers the sixties ever saw, it is a shame that it gets largely ignored by builders of specials.....

+1

most people (including many here) don't realize the rich racing history of HD - those 60's racers were absolute beauty's - give my left nut for one (hell maybe both of my left nuts)

The teens was when all the factory 8 valve and ohc 'cammer' racers were really going hammer and tongs. Indians, Harleys, Excelsior, Cyclones, etc. Getting them to go fast was real pioneering stuff. And throttles always wide open, controlled by the kill switch, Sopwith Camel style !
Rather collectible these days though...

SEEing someone HAS one of THESE spare , Seems it bolts in , What More can you want .
( Norton Crank , end feed , big bore , 40 mm carbs , twin carb head . . . . . )

Right , where were we , ? . A 65 , Rear mounts compatable . 34 mm carb , end feed crank .Or C'do Crankif going for oomph .
Though any A65 should pull the Ton , std. Gee , a relaxing bike to ride ,?. Sounds a bit bizzare ,?.

Degressing further , Some Kiwi had a FLX or similar , reversed , with the six speed assembly cut of a blown (up)
six speed Kwaker . ' The Rest ' was home made , or fell off something else . Just a thought , for the trans .
Was ' crossover ' type where belt drive the H.D. had to be backwards .

Were a lot ( a few ? ) J.A.P. V twins thrown in widelines for ' sprinting ' ( drag raceing ) heads through between the rails .

OUT with the Measureing Stick ! .

I ordered aluminum to make a swingarm, will pick that up tomorrow. Once I get it rolling it will be put away for a while. I need to finish the alloy commando and my combat first. I will continue gathering parts for it. Hopefully things sell and I can find a motor for it.

No it;s not, I have 2 build threads going. This one is for my STD commando with aluminum bits,

Guy says it does 95 mph. He probably wants to have something recalibrated...

Hi Brent, some years back there was a cafe racer called a Goodman built in a F'bed frame, best use of a HD/Buell motor IMHO
Don't have pics sorry

I have spent about 3 hours today looking at engines. Any sugestions? ... What does the forum think. I am open to Ideas, I was set on a buell or sportster 1200, but finding one in my price range is difficult. So I was looking for creative and different options. Fire away....

The best option is to go with a Norton twin and install the JS lightweight pistons. If you choose - you can pay a little extra to have the piston domes under-milled for ultra lightness. Note that even the JS 1007cc pistons weigh less than the stock 750 Norton pistons. Add some other trick components etc. A fast and smooth running Norton featherbed cannot be equalled.

" A fast and smooth running Norton Featherbed cannot be equalled"

Are you 100% certain of that? :D

Money being no object, the powerplant would be a hot rodded big block vincent, no question. But funds being limited as they are right now, I might need to dispose of this project to fund the completion of the 3 bikes in front of it and re visit it in the future.

Project has been sold..... Now to finish the 4 bikes that were in front of it.
