Featherbed project.

Looks a nice wideline single frame.
The front hub is for disk though, not original drum
Hope you have fun with this - what engine are you going to fit?
Cheers
Rob

Hello Rob, I have a Mk3 engine for it but am undecided. I wanted to build a Norvin but the engines are so expensive, possibilities include 1200 Sporster and 750 upright Norton. I got the frame out of Melbourne and curiously the swingarm has been set up for a R/H chain guard...... Yes the front wheel is a disc hub, I had a Don Pender big drum but prefer the disc look, weight and stopping ability, the rear wheel and alloy triple clamps are also from Don.

you used to get these Hassen/ Mundy s o h c' s for 50 bucks , a creat of beer , or a packet of fags . If you didnt intercept one at the tip .

They did the Coventry Climax and V 12 Gee Gwar , as well as this ' hillman Imp '  I think they get 160 HP reliably without too much drama . these Days .
SAAB 94 ?? Triples ( Two Stroke ), Stupid Dihatsu or Suzuki Triples from Car Wreckers , or other scrap meatl , has potential . Inc the renowned Aussie ' Nortina ' 1600
( Use a 711 m , safe for 8-500 ) Rover V8 :p or similar ( Theres litlle Ero V8s & Flat Fours ) Like Konigs , and other delights awaiting .
a Coventry Climax Fire Pump - Mint . was in one of the agricultural machineary adds for 750 quid 10 year back . About 15.000 if it were a real ar one .

The Munch was a Air Cooled NSU car injun ! The choice is endless . Saw a brand new Ford Echo ?? in a scrap yard , when thety came out . Good Value , new 1000 cc for $ 200 .  :Dhttp://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/ ... ton_v8.htm

theres a picture somewhere of a XK Jag engined featherbed ! Cheapest in the long run , as in most straightforward , is likely a Hinkley Bonnie Engine . Tho UCZ J.A.P.s are about 500 bucks,
Very well made , why , with a V Twin crank case . . .

That's not a Jag engine, it's a Rover V8, which is in turn a Buick engine.

That particular one in that bike is a bigger 3.5 litre I think.

I saw that bike many years ago at a bike meet and was mightily impressed by it.

Might Be of some intrest ,

particulaly the 6 speed suzooki trans in the hardley ableson case .

Pus theres a 90 inch S&S Knucklehead . only $ 10.000 to you .

Old Days they put AJS / Matchey top ends on Indian or WLA cases ! as theres a 600 matchey . . . . :? perhaps theres possabilities .
If one liberated a V Twin J A P Case , the 600 UCZ side valves comparable quality , at closer to scrap money .
Still a bloke on the central coast NSW carrires new spares .

Casting a few alloy heads souldnt be difficult , low weight lowq hight engine . Strong .

Came in cultivators/ rotary hoes , here in Aus .Same top end as a 1100 SV V twin , which'd fit O H V top ends .

I got my UCZ for 50 bucks , of a scrap heap . ( and carried it home on bus & Train. Theyre NOT that LIGHT ! . :(

Featherbed project.

But bar a siezed bore , the valve gear etc was like new . Not Bad Value if youre after one of THESE . :D

Got eyeballs on a Featherlastic last weeke4nd at Barber. If I had a FB poject that was getting an engine that shakes, I think you could adapt the isos to almost anything.
