Fast Back Gas/Petrol tank

HI Guys,

My Fastback tank (fiberglass) was crushed when it was shipped (arrggg) the paintwork matched the seat etc- it is covered by insurance however I'm desperately looking for an affordable ~$2-3 hundred bucks tank. I'm looking at coating it myself and painting it with a new color scheme while I'm at it. I checked the UK and ebay and they are out of control - between 500 and 1600 a tank ! Can someone tell me if my expectations are just wrong for a 2-3 hundred dollar tank?

If your insurance company will cover the damage, and the market price for a replacement tank is $600, why look for a $300 tank?

bartel can make you an alloy FB tank for about 360 pounds. Loooong time to wait for that.
Else you can probs try with RGM, they sell bartels tanks I reckon.

BTW believe it or not, I've seen a tank (no ethanol, as never used in last 30 years) and a tail piece sold on eBay at 110 pounds 2 weeks ago...
