Exhaust mounting modification?

I said it a few times before, and will say it again: Tighten the rose nut with RUNNING engine!
No need for hammers or brute force. Rev it to 4000 rpm. The vibrations will eliminate all friction.
(that's why they come loose in the 1st place..)
Easy, and much nicer for the threads in the cyl. head.

I used to do this with my airhead Beemers circa 25 years back, not that they had any issue with loosening and stripping threads like a Commando but in particular I used to do the same thing REVERSE for when I wanted to remove the pipes for any major works.
A couple of my mates stripped threads on removal and I did it to avoid the same issue.

Japanese motorcycles often have slip joints and springs at the cylinder head. If you do not want to modify the pipes, I cannot think of a way of doing it, but it is a good fix. If the pipe is firmly attached to the exhaust port and not free to rotate slightly, the threads on the rose must wear the threads in the aluminium. When the motor is running, it moves the pipes sideways, even when they are not rubber-mounted, that slight rock affects the rose in the head. It might be better to lubricate the threads on the rose, with something which does not become affected by heat. On one of my Triumph motors, I had a big helicoil in one port. A two into one pipe is better.
