I recently purchased a tank that came with a pair of EW petcocks. The do not have the flags and the plastic plunger valve handles are broken off. Does anyone sell repair parts for these?
I still have the original petrol taps. Years ago, one of the levers broke off, so I turned up a new insert from Nylon 66.
You could make up some new levers & get a machinist to make you new inserts.
They work & feel a lot better than aftermarket ones.
I could never stop them from leaking but recently I've taken a fine file to the cone that goes into the body and then honed them with some polishing compound. I haven't tried them on the tank yet. The BAP taps I have are working fine, but they certainly don't deliver the quantity of fuel these old EW taps do. The EW are like straight through and the fuel just pours out. I may try them this winter, but I don't like leaky taps. Asking for fire.
No, use nylon. Brass against brass isn't right.
Once the nylon settles in, it will seal well & feel smooth.
Mine were nylon from new, I also have a spare set which is nylon.
I doubt if there are any repair kits, at least I haven't seen anything. It would be nice if I could get them working without leaking again. Gives it a bit cleaner look, at least to my eye.
