Everything you need to know about Lucas

It's funny, even though I know, love, and tell all the Lucas jokes, I never had one bit of trouble with the Lucas electrics on either my '71 commando (sold it in '78) or my current '73 Commando. Though I must admit my '59 bug eye sprite was a bit problematic sometimes...

My favorite is: "Lucas was the first company to make electricity visible; it looks like smoke."

You lot are mean! I have had no probl;em with my Lucas.
Now Wipac on the other hand.

My favorite was always. "The British drink warm beer because they have Lucas refrigerators."

A Gentleman dosen't go about after dark...

But I DO love it.
Dim
Flicker
and Off...

The Lucas family motto: "Home before dark!"

I also have to say I have had (touch wood) no problems with Lucas bike or car electrics from the 60s and 70s. Early Italian and Spanish electrics, on the other hand, make Lucas look good by comparison. Also, one has to bear in mind the age of these Lucas components. I bet the Lucas guys didn't expect their switchgear and alternators to be working 40 years on.

Joe Lucas inventer of the intermittent wiper

+1 on the Italian electrics and to think they claim Marconi invented the radio so I guess Joe invented the much earlier form of communication called smoke signel's
