This job is taking FAR too long!

Now I've got the primary open, clutch plates out, rotor & stator off. However the engine sproket just will not move. Bought a puller from RGM, nothing! tightened it up as far at I dare, nowt. WD40 aplenty, bit of heat, tried stunning it. Nothing works

The engine aint been apart, since '73 when it went back to the factory for superblends.

Anyone got any ideas?

Hi , you've got the good method....just continue, may be more heat with a blow torch, and with the puller under tension , hammer it ...sometimes few strike a bit "askew" will help ? my two cents, hope you hear soon this nice "POP" noise.Pierre

They can be stubborn sometimes. Whack the sprocket with a hammer and drift. I use a long 1/4" ratchet extension and hit the sprocket just below the chain at multiple points while slowly tightening the tool.

Still aint moved it, tried everything heat, hitting it, hitting it while tightening the puller, hitting it while heating it & tightening the puller, b*****d still aint moving, Pullers bent now!

Any ideas?

Cheers

I bent a puller once, too.

Got a better puller, tightened it with all my might, and used a bit more heat with an oxy/acet "rosebud" tip.

ONE smart smack with a 5 LB. sledge, right on the tip of the puller...

"POP"

WOO HOO YEAH BABY :D

its off, i thought that since the pullers bent any how i'd carry on. used a nice long torque wrench got up to 220 ftlbs BANG, shit i though I'd bust it but nope all is cool. everything alse is coming along just fine.

Thanks for the suggestions
