Engine rebuilding near Kansas?

Anyone know of respectable places around Kansas that rebuild norton engines? Between dad and myself, there are four engines that need rebuilt (two 850s in pieces, my new 750 in pieces, and the #16 motor which really needs to be cleaned up and made "mint", even though it currently runs just fine). We could probably do it, but it's worth it to shop that out, IMO, so long there is someone nearby who does good work.

IMHO the best way is to contact Matt @ Colorado Norton..He'll send a crate made for your engine and will re-do everything the way it has to be done... Pricey? yes! but not having to do anything on your engine for years? Priceless!

maybe shop around for a place that will give you a discount after the first one?

Yeah, it would have to be a good deal for me to send them off. I think dad and I could do it, it's just time that could be spend on other areas of the bike(s). Also, it's not like we're in any rush. It would just be nice to have assembled motors and transmissions on the shelf, ready for installation!

Other than some machine shop work, these things can be quite straight forward. The Main issue I can think of is the crank journals. Getting those radiuses right needs a truly qualified and gifted tech. The rest is just a matter of procedure.

I can imagine the feeling of being overwelmed but therein lies the nature of the beast. This is where Father and Son can achive greatness together. Nobody is saying that you have to be a master machanic, it's just not needed with these machines. Common sense, on the other hand, "is" needed.

Whether you do it or have it done, you still need to know what make these things tick to go consistantly and confidently down the road.
