1973 norton commando 750 with the battery removed and you put a voltage meter on red and brown should you get the buzzer on your meter

I assume you mean brown/blue (battery negative) as brown is the brake light circuit?

The buzzer is usually on the ohms setting, so do you mean ohms?
good morning I've think someone must have changed the brown/blue because negative the one going to inline fuse is brown, yes ohms remove the battery hold my test meter on red and brown (b b) the buzzer last for a while then fades to silence leave it off for about a minute then touch the wires again and buzzing again take in to account there's no battery fitted but when I connect the battery there's a very minute spark off the battery but then nothing turn ignition on everything works

Yes that's almost certainly the 2MC emergency starting capacitor discharging then recharging when the battery is reconnected so there is often a spark at the battery terminal.

You can do but you may have to join the two (normally brown/blue) wires together or just remove the red wire from the 2MC.
