good morning I've think someone must have changed the brown/blue because negative the one going to inline fuse is brown, yes ohms remove the battery hold my test meter on red and brown (b b) the buzzer last for a while then fades to silence leave it off for about a minute then touch the wires again and buzzing again take in to account there's no battery fitted but when I connect the battery there's a very minute spark off the battery but then nothing turn ignition on everything works

Yes that's almost certainly the 2MC emergency starting capacitor discharging then recharging when the battery is reconnected so there is often a spark at the battery terminal.

thank you so much for your help, this is my first norton commando (it was the first bike I went on the back of when I was 13 I'm now 68 two day's time.) and I love it.
