Had some unsettling news from the doctor's today, looks like I am in the market for an electric start,I have read all I can find about the Alton and the cnw kit,has anyone in the UK bought the cnw kit? And how much did it end up costing in total after shipping/import duty etc etc ??? Cheers

I would think if you call and talk to Matt he could probably tell you. He has customers all over the world. I don't own one but most likely will need to some day. I have seen them in person and can tell you they are a beautiful unit and seem to work extremely well. As far as the ones selling so far I think his would be my choice.

Yes the cnw kit does look better to me,I wish money was no object!!!

second thoughts if youre in the uk
I'm in Nottingham if its near come and view one in the flesh
its the bollocks ............................

Hi,

When buying a kit from cNw, the complete e-start kit will cost $ 2,495.00. The shipping to the UK is $ 169.00

On top of that you will have to pay VAT (as you will on anything you buy in the UK the way I understand it) and possibly some customs fees.

Holland Norton works is a shop that offer some cNw parts and their pricing will vary from when buying directly from cNw in the USA

Contact me at the shop with any questions at all about the electric start kit. nortonworks@fone.net

Thanks

Matt, the only question I have is how you're gonna shave that 1.5 pounds we talked about...

Hi,

I would like to take up here with just a little clarification.

Holland Norton Works is authorised dealer of genuine Andover Norton parts and Colorado Norton Works parts. My aim is to offer these parts at the same retail price as offered by Andover Norton and CNW. Andover Norton being part of the EU it is easy to offer their parts at exactly the same price as offered by A.N. However CNW being outside the EU and on the other side of the planet it is different because of additional costs such as higher shipping costs, import duties and customs clearance costs and on top of that like Matt also mentioned the VAT. Also due to currency fluctuations prices can vary occasionally.

Thanks for your understanding.

Take the wife on holiday to Colorado buy one cash and spread it around your luggage and hers for the trip back. What could possibly go wrong :D

As long as it goes in the hold not a lot to go wrong, just make sure there is some documentation that says what it is and an invoice for a suitable value or mark it enough so it shows as used and not new. When I used to go to the US regular I brought lots of stuff back like forks, hubs etc and included the parts list diagram for when it got X rayed and then they could see what it was when they inspected. This was after 9/11.

I'm just pleased there are two electric start kits on the market,it just means money to be able to ride my commando again and at least money is replaceable,if I can't ride it there's no point having it and I don't want it as an ornament my kids aren't interested in my bikes so I'll keep riding them as long as I can , cheers
