The RS site is blocked by this work Confuser but the Matchbox is smaller physically than anything else I have seen and I'm having major space-issues with the Norton project (a 5 3/4" headlight does not leave much available space in the Bucket) and having one less wire/connection sounds good to me!.

I was thinking of cost when I suggested Radio Shack. The Matchbox looks fine , to me.

Ever hear of Radio Shack?

But it looks so neat. It only costs 6 or 7 times as much. It's only money. When are you people going to get over your maniacal desire to be Financially solvent? Spend and ride, sooner or later one of these kooks is going to be right and the world will end.

that is pricy for a relay...two micro relays from Eastern Beaver might work and they carry sockets for them too so they could be wired very cleanly. http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Relays/relays.html
An alternative I've used on my bikes is uber bright H4 bulbs, they normally are short lived but at the reduced voltage on my bikes they have held up OK and are definitely brighter than a standard bulb...this is one example http://www.amazon.com/Sylvania-9003-BP-TWIN-SilverStar/dp/B0012ETJ1O Though if you wire relays it is then possible to safely run higher wattage bulbs assuming the charging system is up to it, though my Norton stock so I stick with 55/60W bulbs

Having a switching relay for the lights is a great idea. With these older bikes and old school switches it is not uncommon to be switching between hi and lo, finding yourself with no lights.

The relay will stop this happening, also having less current passing through the small switches is a great idea ( single relay with both normally open and normally closed contacts ).

A photo below (also wired in a relay for the horn), by swapping a wire on the ignition switch and giving the horn a relay, you can have all services running off the key, greatly reducing the chances of a flat battery.

From their website
Q: Can the Matchbox Relay be mounted in a wet location?

No. A motorcycle headlight bucket is fine. Under the dashboard of a car is fine. Like most electrical devices the Matchbox Relay should be mounted in location that is not subject to water spray or moisture.

It's a motorcycle, the whole thing including inside the headlamp shell get damp. Washed mine a couple of days ago, opened the headlamp shell and there's a pool of water in there, I think that's pretty normal.

I'd expect anything electric designed to go on a bike to be encased fully even if not hermetically sealed and ably to withstand damp conditions.
