I have an earlier brake drum, pre 1971 with the three bolts on the back instead of the paddles for the cush drive.
There is about an 1/8th inch gap between the brake drum and the hub so that the hub is free. When I look in the parts book the only two parts in that part of the sequence are the hub part #06-0291 and the brake drum 06-0319 no indication of any spacers or sleeves. There is also no washer indicated between the top of the hub and the brake backplate.

There is some chunks of broken metal on the hub.

Has my hub wallowed out my brake drum?
Can anyone with experience with the earlier drum give me some advice?
