I have a 1962 atlas that has a stock single monobloc 367 carb. I have no idea what an airbox for this model would look like. Anyone know or better yet, anyone have a picture of one?

The filter was made by Vokes and is semicircular. Norvil may list a repop. The filter fits between the oil tank and the battery box. It has a "nozzle" facing the carb and is connected with a rubber hose. A half section of a Mini (classic) air filter will fit in the Vokes filter as a replacement for the original filter material. I will look for a picture.

I had a '62 single carb. As I remember the filter, it was rectangular and fit in front of the battery box and oil tank. It fit so close that serviciing the filter element was a guaranteed way to scratch the paint on both bat box and oil tank.

The filter element was so open that it removed only small leaves and insects. (I'm being just a little facetious)

My present dual carb Atlas used a similar air box, which I have in a bin somewhere. I will try to post a picture later today.

Hi Slick, I think you are confusing the single and dual carb filters. I have a '62 single carb with an original, half circle, filter. Of course between the Berliner organization and the factory anything is possible.

I started a thread on the filter element a few years ago. You can find it by searching: Vokes "D" Shape Air Filter. There were pictures in the thread but I can't get them to open now.

I think this is Norvil's listing for their repop item. Maybe they can send you a photo:

Well Bodger, I may be confused and my memory sucks, but I reported what I remember, and as I remember it, it was rectangular, and similar to the dual carb version. I did not have that '62 Atlas very long before trading for my present one, so I can easily be mistaken. And besides, that was a long time ago!

As you say, anything was possible between Berliner and the factory .... for example my present Atlas, built with frame dated by Renold 2-62, dispatched from the factory 5-62, and showed up at my dealer 4-63 with dual carbs, 6 start oil pump and con rod squirt holes!
