Dual seat installtion

Just got my new 961 Sport with a dual seat. So wifey can put her tiny botton on it.
So before I start undoing nuts and bolts that I shouldn't, what's the procedure for removing the rear cowl and installing the seat?

I too have a dual seat Sport. I have yet to attempt removing the cowl. However, when you do so, would you be so kind to advise whether I could fit an EZ Pass transponder under there. Thanks.

On either side of the main seat are two Allen (hex) bolts (one per side). Remove those and then remove the main seat. The rest you will be able to figure out after that. The re-install of the Allen bolts is a PITA. You'll soon see. Try not to move the bent clip after the seat is off. You'll know what I mean after you take the seat off.

I might add a few additional notes (hope not to offend, Richard)

After removing the 2 Allen screws from the side position, just below the center of the seat cushion )one of each side), remove the bottom seat cushion (this is done by pivoting it up and out of engagement with the cowl). Looking at the face of the rear cowl, there are two more Allen screws that hold brackets from the cowl to the frame. Remove these two screws. The cowl is then pushed forward (don't try to just lift if straight up) to disengage a bracket that holds the back end of the cowl to the frame.

Don't ask me why I am being so detailed, then I won't have to explain the super glue and disassemble process that I went through when I screwed up this simple procedure LOL

Damn. Glad my red biposto was delayed and got the monoposto sport. I would have scratched the bike up and had a total meltdown. So...I bought another old Bonnie for the Mrs. to sit on. Maybe a Beemer 1200RT is in the works.

So I take it there is not a different manual for the Bi-Posto model???

Can a dual seat be fitted on a solo seat bike as an accessory?

No I don't believe it can

The frame is strengthened at the rear and of course there is rear foot peg mounts fitted, although im sure some after market ones and some fabrication would get around that issue..?
